On Tuesday, there was a fire in one of the Eiffel Tower’s lifts in Paris. As soon as the fire started, everyone was evacuated from the Eiffel Tower. Approximately 1,200 tourists are said to have been safely evacuated from the monument while firefighters managed the situation. The lift shaft connecting the first and second floors is where the fire started, according to the police.
In the meantime, emergency personnel were dispatched right away to put out the fire and protect people. Sources close to Euronews claim that the fire, which has since been contained, started at around 10:30 am as a result of one of the lift cables overheating.
During the operation, access to the tower has been restricted for visitors. Yet, there have been no reports of injuries. Every day, between 15,000 and 25,000 people visit this popular tourist destination and one of the most well-known towers in the world.
