Ranji Trophy: Lord Thakur is who I am. I Scored a Century and Became Mumbai’s Troubleshooter

The Mumbai team once again found salvation in Shardul Thakur, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 big auction. He scored a powerful century against Jammu and Kashmir, saving the squad from disaster. Tanush Kotian’s undefeated half-century innings provided Shardul with solid help. By the end of the second day’s play, Kotian had scored 58 runs, and Shardul had returned undefeated with 113 runs.

Shardul Thakur saved Mumbai’s weak batting in the first innings against Jammu and Kashmir. He did it again, almost 24 hours later, in the second innings. In the sixth round of the Ranji Trophy, Shardul helped Mumbai regain its form by hitting his second first-class century.

With a narrow seven-run lead at 91/6 in the second innings, his team was struggling. So, all-rounder Shardul Thakur entered the game at number eight. Like the first innings, Tanush Kotian joined Shardul, and the two of them put Mumbai back on the winning track. Mumbai was ailing at 91/6 at one point, but Shardul Thakur helped them record 250/7 with his century off 105 balls.

Shardul and Kotian scored 113 and 58, respectively. They were unbeaten. Their efforts helped Mumbai to 274 for 7 at the end of day two. They would like to score more runs on the third day after taking a 188-run lead. Tanush Kotian and Shardul had a partnership of more than 180 runs. Shardul Thakur, a bowling all-rounder, came to bat with a score of 42/6 and fared well in the first innings, scoring 51 runs.

Iyer and Rohit Jaiswal failed

Mumbai reached 120 runs thanks to his 53-run partnership with Kotian. After this, Shardul recorded two wickets while bowling. Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rohit Sharma, all Indian internationals, did not play well. In Mumbai’s match against Jammu and Kashmir, Jaiswal scored 4 and 26 runs, while Rohit went out after scoring 3 and 28. Shreyas Iyer scored 11 and 17 runs.
