A new check-in policy has been implemented by travel and hotel booking platform OYO for its partner hotels. The first place it was used was Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. This year marks the implementation of this rule. Married couples will no longer be able to check into the hotel, per the revised policies. That is, the hotel will only allow a husband and wife to book a room. All couples will be required to present official documentation of their relationship at the time of check-in under the updated policy. Online reservations will be subject to this rule as well.

Began in Meerut

According to the company, Oyo has granted its partner hotels the authority, at their discretion and by regional social sensitivities, to refuse reservations from single couples. Oyo has instructed its partner hotels in Meerut to guarantee this right away. According to people with knowledge of the policy change, the company may extend it to additional cities depending on feedback from the ground. They declared, “Social groups, particularly in Meerut, have provided Oyo with feedback in the past regarding this issue. In addition, citizens of a few other cities have made demands to prohibit single people from checking into Oyo hotels. “

This policy will be reviewed on an ongoing basis

While we value individual freedom, we also understand that in these marketplaces, it is our duty to cooperate with law enforcement and civil society organizations.” He stated that the business will continue to periodically assess the effects of this policy.
