Regarding Prithvi Shaw, an MCA official, speaking to news agency PTI under anonymity, stated, “He would hardly try to reach the ball; it would pass him.” He had to work hard to get to the ball even when batting. He lacks discipline, fitness, and attitude. We had ten players in the game, in a sense. We are unable to set distinct rules for various players.”

According to the official, the young player has not done his athletic ability justice by drawing too much attention to his extracurricular activities. Posts like these on social media won’t help him. He continued, “You would be wrong to think that such posts on social media will have any impact on Mumbai selectors and MCA.” Shaw was not purchased at the Rs 75 lakh base price in the IPL 2025 auction.
