At the Age of 86, Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata Passed Away after Being Admitted to a Mumbai hospital

Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group, passed away late on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. His age was 86 years. Ratan Tata had been sick for a few days and was visiting the hospital for a standard examination. He suddenly fell ill on Wednesday night, and a private hospital in Mumbai accepted him.

At the age of 86, Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata, the largest business magnate in India and the honorary chairman of Tata Sons, departed from this life on Wednesday. In severe condition, Ratan Tata was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. For the past few days, he had been ill. There were reports of his condition getting bad on Wednesday night. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani arrived at Breach Candy Hospital as soon as he was informed of Ratan Tata’s death.

Reports appeared earlier on Monday stating that Ratan Tata’s health was deteriorating, but he quickly refuted these claims. He said there was nothing to be concerned about and asked the public and media to refrain from sharing false information. I do great. The 86-year-old Tata had called the reports of his hospitalisation in Mumbai “reports,” saying that there was no truth to them.

Famous individuals have paid their condolences on Ratan Tata’s death, including President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

PM expressed grief over the death of Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata passed away, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sympathies. My heart is full of many chats with Ratan Tata ji, he stated on his official X handle. During my tenure as Gujarat’s chief minister, I had regular meetings with him.

We used to discuss different concerns with one another. His points of view enriched me. These discussions persisted even after I arrived in Delhi. His passing saddens me greatly. My sympathies are with his loved ones, friends, and supporters during this difficult time. Om Shanti.

N Chandrasekaran confirmed

On Ratan Tata’s death, N Chandrasekaran published a statement. He said, “We are sorry to say goodbye to Ratan Naval Tata. His exceptional input has shaped our country’s fabric in addition to the Tata Group. He served as more than just a chairman for the Tata Group. He served as a mentor, friend, and guru to me. I was constantly inspired by him.

Ratan Tata got the Padma Vibhushan award

Business magnate Ratan Tata was born in Mumbai on December 28, 1937, to Naval and Sooni Tata. The national government awarded the title of “Padma Vibhushan” to Tata in 2008. He returned to India in 1962 after earning his architecture degree from Cornell University and began working for the organisation that his great-grandfather had founded nearly a century before.

Largest acquisition by a foreign firm

In 1996, he created the telecom company Tata Teleservices, and in 2004, he started the IT company Tata Consultancy Services. The Tata Group made the largest acquisition of a foreign company by an Indian company at the time when it acquired the British tea manufacturer Tetley for $432 million in 2000 and the Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus for $13 billion in 2007. The British luxury automakers Jaguar and Land Rover were subsequently purchased by Tata Motors for $2.3 billion from Ford Motor Co. in 2008.

Ratan Tata’s favourite project

At Tata Motors, his two favourite projects were the Nano and the Indica. This was the world’s cheapest car, and it was the first model created and produced in India. He drew the first sketches of the two models.

There was some controversy around his leadership at Tata

After the business dismissed Cyrus Mistry, a wealthy Shapoorji Pallonji family member, as chairman of Tata Sons in 2016, the two got into a public spat. While Mistry accused Ratan Tata of setting up a rival power centre within the group, the Tata group said that Mistry failed to improve the company.
