Stand-up Comedian Munawar Faruqui recently received threats allegedly from jailed criminal gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who is also suspected of being involved in the murder of former minister Baba Siddique.

The Mumbai police have provided security protection to stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, although the threat is still unclear. However, the Mumbai police are trying to find out more about the truth.

Several Hindu groups have accused and claimed that Munawar Faruqui had hurt their feelings in one of his shows, but Faruqui has firmly denied this. And these allegations have been going on for the past few years.

Not only Munawar Faruqui, it was revealed that there were several other celebrities who were targeted by the Bishnoi gang, originating from three suspected gang members who were arrested by the police.

The three suspected Bishnoi gang members were arrested since Saturday night when it was discovered that the three of them attacked and shot Siddique in Badra (East). On the same day, the Delhi Police also arrested the murder of a gym owner in South Delhi that occured a month earlier.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had previously registered a case against the Bishnoi syndicate and its associates in August 2022 under the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has expanded its network under the name of a “mafia-style criminal network” in several states in India, this was revealed during the investigation conducted by the NIA.

Several high-profile crimes have been committed by this network, one of which is murder of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala which occurred in May 2022. Not only murder, they are also involved in other crimes, namely large-scale extortion of business people and professionals.

The National Investigation Agency also learned of the syndicate;s plan to coordinate with a foreign party, namely Canada, and the leader of the organized terror group is suspected of operating in prisons in India.

Through this case, there is a need for stricter security measures for artists and comedians who often make public criticism. Collaboration between the police and the arts community is one of the keys to ensuring the safety of entertainers such as comedians and other arts workers.
