This is the third record T20 series win for the Indian team after Suryakumar Yadav became the full-time captain. In the series, Team India had already won over Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav and shown in a fresh and aggressive image, won on yet another front. In addition to beating South Africa, Team India won the series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. On the strength of historical hundreds from Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma, the Indian team defeated South Africa by 135 runs in the fourth and final game of the Twenty20 series, which was played in Johannesburg. Team India won the four-match series 3-1 as a result. Along with creating a new record of scoring hundreds in the same innings for the first time in this series, Sanju and Tilak each scored hundreds for the second time. Following this, Team India secured South Africa’s defeat in three overs thanks to the lethal bowling of Arshdeep Singh.
For the first time in this series, captain Surya chose to bat first after winning the toss. Sanju Samson, who has not scored in the last two matches, just missed getting out on 0 in the opening over as his catch went past the slip fielder. When his straightforward catch was missed in the same over, Abhishek Sharma, the second opener, was given a lifeline in the slip itself. Even so, South Africa was still held responsible for many missed catches, as Team India amassed a mountaintop 283 runs with only one wicket loss.
Sanju and Tilak centuries destroyed South Africa.
Sanju and Abhishek (36) gave Team India a great start with an explosive partnership of 73 runs in 5.5 overs. After Abhishek was out, Tilak Verma, who had scored his first century at this number in the previous match, came in at number three again. He and Sanju (109 not out) thrashed every South African bowler here, adding 210 runs (not out) in a partnership of just 14.1 overs, the largest partnership in the history of this format. Sanju reached his century in 51 balls, followed by Tilak in 41 balls. This was the second century of both players in this series, and they became the first batsmen in the world (full member country) to score a century in the same innings.
Arshdeep played in just three overs.
South Africa was stated to bat similarly to the Indian team, but this was impossible. The sharp seam bowling of Hardik Pandya (1/8) and Arshdeep Singh (3/20) put the South African batsmen in danger. This inning failed to be played on the same field. Together, they dismissed four South African batsmen in just three overs, including powerful batsmen like Heinrich Klaasen and captain Aiden Markram.
Due to Arshdeep’s three wickets in the first and third overs, South Africa was bound to lose. Following this, the only ways that Tristan Stubbs (43), David Miller (36), and Marco Jansen (29) might have reduced the loss margin were by playing brief innings. The team fell for just 148 runs when Varun Chakraborty, Ravi Bishnoi, and Axar Patel took the remaining batters back to the pavilion by the 19th over.
