On the new Flying Flea C6, Royal Enfield, the oldest motorcycle brand in the world, announced its next chapter in motorcycle history. A new subbrand for the manufacturer’s electric motorcycles will be branded Royal Enfield Flying Flea.
Electric vehicles get more and more popular. EVs are being offered by a number of companies. In a situation like that, electric vehicle sales are also growing. In the EV market, two-wheelers are now the most popular models. As a result, fans of the performance motorcycle brand Royal Enfield have been expecting its EV model with excitement for a considerable amount of time. Royal Enfield, the oldest motorbike company in continuous production globally, finally revealed the Flying Flea C6, marking the beginning of a new chapter in bike history. A new subbrand for the manufacturer’s electric bikes will be called Royal Enfield Flying Flea. The original Flying Flea bike, which was used by the British Army during World War II, will serve as a model for the new vertical.
Flying Flea is the new electric model from Royal Enfield
The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 was created with life in view. The new electric motorcycle from Royal Enfield is lightweight and the first of a new family of city vehicles created by RE’s teams in Italy, the UK, India, and other places. There are more than 200 engineers working in the electric division. Also, in 2023, it showed HimE, its first prototype. More than 28 patents for electric motorcycles have been created by it. Also, its sales and distribution team will be unique from the bike sales team.
What is the Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6
As stated by Royal Enfield, the new Flying Flea C6 features state-of-the-art technology and an original design. Due to the patent photos, the ebike has girder front forks. These were common on bikes in the 1930s and 1940s, and the C6 has modified them for modern uses. The battery is set in the centre of the motorcycle, where the engine is normally set up, on an aluminium-forged frame.
In addition to strengthening the weight, the forged frame may lower the structure’s weight. whereas the magnesium battery housing uses an organic design language for optimal cooling and minimise weight. To RE, the battery fins’ design theme mixes technology and past. The strangely set-up front fins stand for creativity and modern technology. The back fins, on the other hand, are in order too and stand for custom and legacy. The two sets of fins flex and mix in to form a wing-like shape in the middle. An engine living like that of Royal Enfield’s ICE types covers the electric motor.
How do the features look
The single seat and round headlamp are suggestive of the original Flying Flea. The pillion position can be sold as an addon. The ebike has an oval, touchscreen TFT display for a classic look. The Flying Flea C6’s core vehicle control unit (VCU) was entirely designed internally. Also, it features all of the bike’s digital and tactile touchpoints. More than 200,000 ridemode options are made possible by the VCU. Additionally, it has overtheair (OTA) updates, theft protection, and geofencing.
According to RE, the VCU should be capable of doing more than just maximising the motor’s economy. But “fine” changes to the brake, throttle, and area feel can enhance the riding experience. You can use the phone to operate most of these controls.
Battery and motor
The new Flying Flea C6’s battery and motor specifications have not been released by Royal Enfield. Additionally to other electronic aids, the company announced that the bike will have traction control, cruise control, and cornering ABS. Also, a domestic three-pin link can be used to charge it.
When will it be launched
In the weeks to come, more details about Flying Flea’s launch and market debut should become available. Per states, it will go on sale in 2026. Later this month, the firm plans to launch its bike at Motoverse 2024, its yearly motorcycle and music festival. The company has also revealed that an electric scrambler will be its second product under the Flying Flea name.
