Surya Kumar believes Shami will perform well
The opening over of England’s innings was bowled by Shami. He bowled three overs in the match, falling short of his four-over quota. Shami’s economy rate was 8.30 during this time, and he gave up 25 runs. Also, Shami bowled a no-ball and was unable to claim any wickets during this game. But throughout his spell, he reached a speed of roughly 140 km/h, ending any rumors on his fitness. Following the game, Suryakumar expressed his confidence that Shami would do well in the next encounter.
had surgery on the ankle
In early 2024, Shami had ankle surgery after suffering an injury during the ODI World Cup. He then went back to playing domestic cricket. They announced, in between, that the fast bowler would return to international cricket in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But for fitness reasons, this was not possible. Shami was on the 15-man roster for the T20 series against England. But he was not in the starting lineup for the first two games in Chennai and Kolkata. There was doubt about Shami’s fitness because of the delay in his return. Now, though, he was able to make a successful return.
Domestic cricket spread shine
The 34-year-old bowler began playing domestic cricket in November. This was after surgery. He took 11 wickets with an economy rate of 7.85. He played in all nine of Bengal’s Twenty20 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He played in only three of the seven games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, taking three wickets. Following this, Shami’s leg swelled up, forcing him to withdraw from the competition.
