Veteran bowler Jasprit Bumrah of the Indian cricket team has won another important award. Because of his outstanding play, the fast bowler was really named the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year. Bumrah collected 71 wickets in 13 Test matches in 2024 and demonstrated exceptional skill in each match. Bumrah is the sixth Indian to win the award.

Bumrah’s award means India now matches Australia in ICC Test Cricketer of the Year winners. The only man to receive this award twice in his career is Steve Smith (2015, 2017). In 2024, Bumrah will be the top wicket-taker in Test cricket. With 71 wickets, he is at the top of the table. Second-place finisher Gus Atkinson of England, who has claimed 52 wickets in 11 games, is well behind him.

Jasprit Bumrah not only caused trouble with his bowling in 2024 but also led India to a win in Perth. In the first Test of the five-match series against Australia, he showed great captaincy. He stepped up in Rohit Sharma’s absence. He continued to play and ended up with the most wickets in BGT 2024–25. For this exceptional effort, he was also named Player of the Series.
