Bangladesh’s cricket team has created a new history on Pakistani soil. The team led by Nazmul Hussain Shanto defeated host Pakistan by 10 wickets on the fifth and final day of the first Test match played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
This is Bangladesh’s first victory against Pakistan in Test cricket history. With this victory, Bangladesh has taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. The Bangladesh Cricket Team has now become the first team in the world to defeat Pakistan by 10 wickets in Test cricket at its home ground.
In the second innings, only Mohammad Rizwan was able to play a half-century innings for the Pakistan Cricket Team. He contributed 51 runs. Apart from him, no other batsman could stay on the pitch. For Bangladesh, Mehdi took 5 wickets for 21 runs in 11.5 overs in Pakistan’s second innings. Apart from him, Shakib Al Hasan took 3 wickets for 44 runs in 17 overs.
On the fifth and final day of the match on Sunday, Pakistan’s team was reduced to only 146 runs in their second innings, and Bangladesh got a target of only 30 runs to win the match, which they achieved without losing any wickets.
Pakistan declared its innings after scoring 448 runs for 6 wickets in the first innings. But Bangladesh gave a befitting response to this and scored a huge score of 565 runs in its first innings.
Mushfiqur Rahim played a brilliant innings of 191 runs in the first innings for Bangladesh. He shared a record partnership of 196 runs for the seventh wicket with Mehdi Hasan Miraz (77). Mushfiqur struck one six and 22 fours in 341 balls during his marathon innings of more than eight and a half hours. Due to this, the Bangladesh team was able to get a lead of 117 runs in the first innings.
