Mohammad Rizwan was named the cricket captain by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday. But Gary Kirsten, a former South African player who was in charge of the team’s head coach tasks, resigned from his position the very next day, on Monday. Jason Gillespie, a former Australian player, has been named PCB’s head coach for white-ball cricket on Kirsten’s resignation.
PCB shared the information by posting on X
The Pakistani cricket team is still going through an era of change. The team just announced the names of its new captain and vice captain yesterday. On that same day, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the team’s new head coach in a post on social media account X. Gary Kirsten has resigned from his position as head coach, and the board has accepted this resignation, according to the post released by PCB. For the November white ball cricket series in Australia, Jason Gillespie will take over as head coach of the Pakistan men’s side.
Under Kirsten’s advice, the team’s performance was poor
In April 2024, Gary Kirsten, a former South African player, was named head coach of the Pakistani cricket team. Kirsten’s time there was short. He only served as head coach for roughly eight months. But the Pakistani team has not performed well while he has been their coach. The heartbreaking defeat to the United States and India in the 2024 T20 World Cup led the Pakistani team to be removed from the group stage.
