Chess Ranking:Gukesh Improved to The Top of Chess Rankings in India

Gukesh is now ranked fourth in the world chess organization FIDE’s most recent rankings. Erigesi dropped to fifth with 2779.5 rating points. Gukesh, who won India’s highest sporting honor, the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, has 2784 points. Magnus Carlsen of Norway continues to hold the top spot in the global rankings with 2832.5 points.

In the Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands, D Gukesh, the world champion, beat Vicente Keymer from Germany. This marks another win for him. After defeating Arjun Arigesi, Gukesh is now the top-ranked chess player in India.

Gukesh improved to fourth place in the world chess organization, FIDE’s most recent rankings, on Thursday. Arigesi dropped to fifth with 2779.5 rating points. Gukesh, who won India’s top sports prize, the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, has 2784 points. Magnus Carlsen of Norway continues to hold the top spot in the global rankings with 2832.5 points.

Two American players, Fabiano Caruana (2798) and Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura (2802), come behind him. At the age of 18, Gukesh became the youngest player to win the world title after defeating China’s Ding Liren in Singapore in December of last year. In September of last year, Erigesi rose to the top of the Indian rankings.

Then, in December, he received his best rating of 2801. He is the second Indian player to reach 2800 or more rating points, after Viswanathan Anand, and 15th player in the world total.

Warmerdam and Praggnanandhaa draw together

Uzbekistan’s Abdusattorov Nodirbek beat Jordan Van Foreest. Indian GM Praggnanandhaa drew with Max Warmerdam of the Netherlands in the fifth round after two wins in a row. After the fifth round, Gukesh, who beat Keymer, and Slovenia’s Vladimir Fedoseev are half a point behind Praggnanandhaa and Abdusattorov. Both Praggnanandhaa and Abdusattorov have four points each.

Fedossiev defeated America’s top seed, Caruana. The competition still has eight rounds of matches to go. P. Harikrishna could do little with his black pieces against China’s champion, Wei Yi. Arigesi drew with his fellow countryman, Luke Mendonca. In the Challengers division, Divya Deshmukh lost to Erwin L. Ami of the Netherlands. R. Vaishali drew with Frederic Sven of Germany. Divya has 1.5 points, while Vaishali has 2.5.
