After 2012, India’s top batsman, Virat Kohli is scheduled to play in his first Ranji Trophy match. He has committed to playing for Delhi against Railways starting on January 30. Kohli has notified the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) that he will be available to play in the team’s last league encounter in the Ranji Trophy, but he will not be able to play in Delhi’s upcoming match against Saurashtra starting January 23 due to a neck strain.

He had an injury while touring Australia.

The final Border-Gavaskar Trophy encounter saw Kohli sustain a minor neck injury. The physiotherapist at the moment assessed his condition. The last time Kohli played for Delhi in the red ball format was against Uttar Pradesh in 2012.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) mandated that the players play domestic cricket following the loss on the Australia tour. On Thursday, the board announced new guidelines for Team India. As a result, players must now compete in domestic competitions in order to maintain their eligibility for central contract and national team selection. Players will only be released from this under specific conditions. According to the new strategy, playing in domestic competitions is a requirement for both central contracts and national team selection. This will assist the player in maintaining match fitness, identifying talent, and staying involved in domestic cricket. The board will also have the ability to fortify the domestic system.
