On Thursday, tech billionaire Elon Musk made history by becoming the first person on social networking site X to surpass 200 million followers. Musk paid $44 billion to acquire the platform in October 2022. The X owner is followed by sports star Cristiano Ronaldo (113.2 million followers) and former US President Barack Obama (131.9 million followers).

With 110.3 million followers, popular musician Justin Bieber is ranked fourth, while with 108.4 million followers, Rihanna is ranked fifth. Recently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi became one of the world’s 100 millionth people. which Musk found appreciative. Currently, 102.4 million people follow him. According to recent statements made by Musk, X now has over 300 million daily active users (DAUs) and more than 600 million monthly active users (MAUs).

According to recent research, millions of new inactive accounts have led to a rise in the number of fake followers of Musk. On the other hand, the assertion has not received formal confirmation. The owner of SpaceX and Tesla claims that the X social media platform has evolved into a group chat for Earth, which gets the highest traffic from around the world.

Musk had stated, “X is the group chat for Earth.” The software businessman wants to turn it into an “everything app” where users can upload films and TV series and even send money online. Additionally, Musk asserted that the US is experiencing an all-time high in X usage. Global financial giant Fidelity reduced the value of its ownership in the Musk-run X (previously Twitter) by 78.7% earlier this week. This implies that the social media network X is probably only worth $9.4 billion.
